The *mystery* of the female reproductive system-understanding through robotics?

This is the female reproductive system? Although most might not know the difference between this and the real thing (thanks to the prevalence of abstinence only sex education in America, or none at all), to Teresa Woodruff, this model of the female reproductive system is a medical and scientific breakthrough. Up until now, there have been no models to study the female reproductive system; in fact very little is understood about its complexities, how to treat ovarian and uterine cancers, or how it responds to drugs. The reasons behind this are socially complex (aka medicine has long been ruled by men and female medicine has not been viewed as important until recently, and thats still debatable.)
This mini system is made of computer chips, wires, donated tissues, and mouse tissues. Comprised of a mini ovary, mini fallopian tube, mini cervix, mini uterus, and mini liver (the liver metabolizes drugs). The system has successfully reproduced a full, hormonal menstrual cycle, minus the shedding of the endometrial lining, which means this system can be used to study the female reproductive system, the effects of cancers and drugs, and simulated pregnancy to discover which drugs can be used during pregnancy, which ethically, cannot be tested on actual pregnant women.
This is a huge breakthrough, if model organ systems and even bodies can be made, the ethical and practical limitations that stand in the way of medical progress can be eliminated.
