Design Software and Exoplanets

As everyone knows, (I hope) NASA just discovered 7 new exoplanets, and stunning artistic renderings were just released to the public. The design software that the artists use could possibly have an impact on architecture and visual design, if scientific data can be translated into visuals like this across the board, a whole new world could open up for designers.
